Former SAD MLA Jagbir Singh Brar joins AAP ahead of the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-poll following his disappointment with Congress over the party’s nomination of former Olympian Pargat Singh from the constituency in the 2022 elections.

Brar’s move to AAP is significant as the by-poll, necessitated after the death of Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary, will be held soon.

The ruling AAP is attempting to strengthen its position in Jalandhar, where Congress is working hard to win back its seat on a sympathy wave.

The poll is a crucial battle for the ruling party, which had lost the Sangrur by-poll earlier.

Recently, Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited Ballan in Jalandhar to lay the foundation for the Guru Ravidass Bani Adhiyan Centre. They handed over a cheque of Rs 25 crore to the Dera Sachkhand Ballan chief as the first installment to commence the work. The politicians also paid their respects to Sant Niranjan Dass, the chief of Dera Sachkhand Ballan.
