Rahul Gandhi fails to appear in court in defamation case filed by RSS worker

In a recent development, Shri Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party leader, has found himself at the center of controversy after failing to appear in court in connection with a defamation case. The case was filed by an RSS worker who alleged that Rahul Gandhi had defamed the organization during a public rally in 2016.

The court had issued a summons to Rahul Gandhi to appear in person, but the Congress leader failed to do so. Instead, his lawyer appeared on his behalf and sought exemption from personal appearance. The court, however, rejected the plea and ordered Rahul Gandhi to appear in person on the next hearing.

Reacting to the court’s order, Rahul Gandhi issued a statement saying that he respects the court and the law of the land. He also urged his supporters to refrain from any kind of violence or disruption and to maintain peace and harmony.

Meanwhile, the BJP has seized upon the issue, citing the example of Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav’s conviction in a similar defamation case in 2013. The party has questioned why there was no objection at that time, but now everyone is blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the court’s order.

“The law is equal to everyone, and we should all obey it as responsible citizens of India. The court’s order is not a political issue, and it should not be used to score political points,” a BJP spokesperson said.

The controversy comes at a time when the Congress party is gearing up for the upcoming assembly elections in several states. The party has been facing criticism for its lackluster performance in recent elections, and this latest issue is likely to further dent its image.

It remains to be seen how the court proceedings will unfold and what impact it will have on the political landscape in the country. However, one thing is clear – the rule of law is paramount, and every citizen, regardless of their political affiliation, must respect it.
