Women Emerging as Community Leaders

The Vice President noted that women associated with SHGs are increasingly taking leadership roles in villages and local communities. Through collective savings, skill development, and entrepreneurship initiatives, many women have started small businesses and income-generating activities.

He added that SHGs provide a strong support system where women share knowledge, financial resources, and practical solutions to everyday challenges. This collaborative approach has helped build confidence among rural women and enabled them to actively participate in decision-making processes.

According to him, the growth of SHGs across the country reflects the strength and determination of women who are shaping their own futures.

Driving Economic and Social Change

The Vice President also emphasised that SHGs have become an important pillar of rural development. By encouraging financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and social awareness, these groups help improve the quality of life for many families.

In Tripura, several women-led SHGs are involved in activities such as handicrafts, agriculture, food processing, and small-scale enterprises. These initiatives have helped generate employment opportunities while also promoting self-reliance among women.

He stressed that empowering women through such platforms strengthens the foundation of a progressive and inclusive society.

Encouraging Women’s Participation

The Vice President encouraged more women to join SHGs and take advantage of government programmes designed to support women entrepreneurs and rural development initiatives.

He noted that when women gain financial independence and leadership skills, they contribute significantly to nation-building. By supporting women through SHGs, communities can accelerate development and ensure inclusive growth.
