Siang District Police arrested three alleged drug traffickers during a late-night anti-drug operation in Boleng, Arunachal Pradesh. Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking in Boleng

Siang District Police, along with the West Siang Anti-Drug Squad (ADS), carried out a late-night operation in Boleng and arrested three alleged drug traffickers. The team acted after receiving specific intelligence about suspected narcotics moving from Aalo towards Boleng.

Accordingly, officers established strategic naka checkpoints to intercept the suspects. As a result, the police team successfully detained all three accused during the operation.

Three Suspects Taken into Custody

The arrested individuals include two women from West Siang district. In addition, police detained one serving personnel of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn).

Superintendent of Police J.K. Lego, IPS, supervised the operation. Meanwhile, SDPO Y. Yangi provided crucial intelligence inputs that helped the team plan the raid. SI T. Padung, Officer-in-Charge of Boleng Police Station, led the officers on the ground.

Police Recover Narcotics and Cash

Police conducted the search by following the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Moreover, Circle Officer-cum-Executive Magistrate Niyang Pertin and an independent witness remained present throughout the search process.

During the operation, officers recovered 10.74 grams of suspected heroin (brown sugar), 1.22 grams of suspected opium, 11 OST (Bupet-N) tablets, and ₹12,030 in cash. According to investigators, the cash may have originated from drug trafficking activities.

Investigation Moves Forward

Boleng Police registered a case under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985. Thereafter, investigators began tracing the source of the seized narcotics and identifying the wider supply network.

At the same time, officers are examining whether the accused have links to larger drug trafficking groups operating in the region. The investigation remains ongoing.

Police Seek Public Cooperation

Siang Police reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating drug trafficking from the district. Furthermore, the department urged residents to share credible information about drug-related activities.

According to police officials, community support plays a vital role in protecting young people from substance abuse. Therefore, authorities encouraged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and report suspicious activities.
