The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for the possibility of heat strokes as temperatures are expected to cross the 40 degrees Celsius mark again in Pune on Thursday. After a week of light rains and relatively low temperatures, several parts of the city have already reported temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, with Koregaon Park and Magarpatta being some of them. The maximum temperature is expected to be 40 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be 21 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD.

Despite light to very light rain being forecasted on Thursday evening, it is unlikely to provide much relief. In light of the excessive temperature in the afternoon, citizens have been advised to avoid stepping out and to ensure that they are well-hydrated. The Met department has also asked citizens to take adequate care during lightning and thunder by avoiding the use of mobile devices or other electronic equipment. Moreover, citizens have been urged to take care while driving and to avoid taking shelter under trees during lightning and thunder.

With the heat wave continuing, the people of Pune must take necessary precautions to avoid heat strokes. Staying indoors during the hottest hours of the day, wearing light-colored and loose-fitting clothes, and staying hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids are some measures that can be taken. Additionally, avoiding caffeinated drinks, alcohol, and sugary drinks is recommended, as they can lead to dehydration. It is also advised to use sunscreens and wear sunglasses and hats when going out in the sun.

It is important to note that heat strokes can be fatal and can cause symptoms like dizziness, headaches, nausea, and even loss of consciousness. Hence, it is vital to be aware of the risks of heat stroke and to take necessary precautions to avoid it.
