Shillong, Meghalaya: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday laid the foundation stones for three important road projects in East Jaiñtia Hills district. The government aims to strengthen connectivity and improve transportation facilities across the region.
The ceremony took place at Latyrke Playground in the presence of local leaders, officials, and residents. Moreover, the projects reflect the government’s continued focus on infrastructure expansion in Meghalaya.
The largest project includes the upgradation of the Dkhiah–Sutnga–Saipung–Pala Road up to Semmasi at an estimated cost of ₹355 crore. At the same time, the government will strengthen the Dkhiah–Sutnga–Saipung–Moulsei–Haflong Road with an investment of ₹10.3 crore. Officials expect the upgraded road to provide smoother and safer transportation for commuters.
In another major step, the government will improve the Sutnga–Khaddum Road and enhance access to Chympe Waterfalls. The state has allocated ₹46.75 crore for this project. As a result, the area may attract more tourists and create new business opportunities for local residents.
