The BJP leader also praised party candidates who contested the recent Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections. Although the party fielded 11 candidates, it failed to secure any seats in the civic body polls.
Despite the setback, Beichhua remained hopeful about the party’s future. He said he strongly believes that Aizawl will eventually elect BJP MLAs and support a BJP-led leadership in the AMC.
Furthermore, the former minister described development as Mizoram’s biggest need. According to him, the state can achieve progress only through good governance, transparency, fair administration, and equal treatment of citizens.
He also credited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for promoting these principles during his tenure. In addition, he highlighted the BJP-led central government’s role in improving infrastructure and connectivity in the Northeast.
Beichhua pointed to the construction of four-lane and double-lane highways connecting district headquarters in Mizoram. Moreover, he said railway connectivity introduced under the BJP-led government has improved the state’s growth prospects.
Meanwhile, the BJP leader urged the people of Mizoram to support the party without hesitation. He addressed concerns related to religion and politics by stating that his Christian faith remains unchanged despite serving as a BJP MLA and state president.
“I am a Christian MLA and the BJP state president, and my faith has not diminished in the slightest. If you seek all-round development, the answer lies with the BJP,” Beichhua said.
At present, the BJP holds two seats in the 40-member Mizoram Legislative Assembly. Additionally, the party leads the Mara Autonomous District Council in the southern part of the state.
Beichhua further stated that Mizoram requires BJP leadership to achieve comprehensive development and stronger infrastructure growth in the future.
