Airports Authority of India (AAI) has officially taken over 18.8 acres of land from the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S) at 3rd Mile in Chumoukedima for the Phase-One expansion of Dimapur Airport. Officials from AAI, Assam Rifles, the Transport Department, and the district administration attended the joint handover programme on Thursday. During the event, officials inspected the identified land before completing the formal transfer process.

Airports Authority of India has officially taken over 18.8 acres of land for the expansion of Dimapur Airport in Nagaland.

The land belonged to the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School at 3rd Mile in Chumoukedima. Officials completed the transfer process during a joint handing over and taking over programme held on Thursday.

Several senior officials attended the event. They included Airport Director (APD) of Dimapur Airport Moa Pongen, Commandant K.D. Sharma of No. 2 Battalion ARTC&S, AIR Cell Transport Department Secretary Sentiwapang Aier, Deputy Commissioner of Chumoukedima Polan John, and OSD Transport Department M. Ababe Ezung.

Before completing the transfer process, officials jointly inspected the identified land. Subsequently, they finalized the formal handover for the Phase-One airport expansion project.

Meanwhile, officials also discussed the remaining land under ARTC&S control for the proposed Phase-Two expansion of the airport. They noted that authorities must obtain approval from competent departments before transferring any additional land.

The expansion project is expected to improve airport infrastructure and strengthen air connectivity in the region. Improved airport facilities may also support tourism, trade, and economic growth in Nagaland.

Furthermore, the development could enhance passenger convenience and increase connectivity between Northeast India and other parts of the country.
