The Assam BJP’s extended state executive meeting in Guwahati on September 11 is focusing on the campaign and other political and organisational matters. Party leaders are reviewing how activities will be carried out across the state from September 17 to October 17.

The meeting comes after earlier training sessions and planning exercises held by the state unit. These preparations are aimed at ensuring coordination among party workers, legislators and organisational teams during the campaign.

Seva Sankalp Abhiyan gets state-wide push

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is part of a nationwide BJP programme marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life. The campaign will begin on September 17, which is also Modi’s birthday, and continue until October 17.

In Assam, the party has already formed a state-level committee to oversee preparations. State general secretary Anup Barman is heading the committee, which includes Cabinet Minister Ranoj Pegu, Lok Sabha MP Bijuli Kalita Medhi, Rajya Sabha MP Terash Gowala and MLA Bijoy Malakar, among others.

Moreover, sub-committees have been assigned responsibilities at different organisational levels. This structure is intended to help coordinate activities across districts and constituencies.

Wide programme planned across Assam

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will include several public outreach and service-oriented activities. The Assam BJP has listed programmes such as Namo Seva Gatha, Anganwadi Utsav, Rangoli, Parivartan Ki Kahani and Seva Setu Abhiyan.

Other planned activities include painting, elocution and quiz competitions, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, Seva Jyoti Yatra and a national innovation competition.

The campaign will also involve local party workers and public representatives. As a result, the BJP is seeking to connect organisational activity with community-level participation during the month.

Focus on booth-level participation

The campaign’s opening programme in Assam will be the “Ashirbadar Banti” or Lamp of Blessings initiative on September 17. According to the party, workers across more than 31,000 booths in the state will light lamps at their homes.

The programme is designed as a symbolic start to the wider campaign. Meanwhile, district-level training has already begun to familiarise party functionaries with the planned activities and their implementation.

Leaders to coordinate grassroots outreach

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia are overseeing preparations for the campaign, according to the party’s earlier announcements. Ministers, legislators and BJP workers are also expected to participate in the month-long programme.

The latest meeting gives the party an opportunity to review these arrangements as the launch date approaches. It also comes at a time when the Assam BJP is preparing for other political activities, including the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election and Silchar Municipal Corporation elections.

The party’s leadership has therefore placed the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan within a broader organisational schedule. However, the campaign remains focused on public outreach, service activities and highlighting the BJP’s message of development and public participation.

Assam BJP prepares for month-long campaign

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is set to bring BJP MPs, MLAs, ministers and grassroots workers into a coordinated state-wide programme. With the September 17 launch approaching, the party is using its organisational meetings and training sessions to prepare for implementation.

Overall, the Assam BJP’s latest deliberations underline the scale of the planned campaign. The success of the programme will depend on how effectively activities are coordinated across districts and how strongly local workers engage with people during the month-long initiative.
