Better Connectivity Supports Tourism
Officials have linked the rise in tourist arrivals partly to improvements in transport infrastructure.
The Bairabi-Sairang railway line has played an important role by connecting Aizawl with the national railway network.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 51.38-km railway line on September 13, 2025. Since then, the improved rail connection has made travel to Mizoram more convenient for visitors.
However, officials also credit the state’s growing eco-tourism appeal and tourism promotion efforts for the rising visitor numbers.
Government Strengthens Tourism Regulations
The Mizoram government has introduced several measures to improve tourism services and visitor safety.

The festival returned after a two-year gap. The Tourism and Horticulture departments jointly organised the event.
According to the minister, the government plans to promote events such as the Winter Festival, Hnahsin Kut and Leitlangpui Music Festival.

Focus on Local Tourism
