Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Arrive in Shimla on Private Visit

Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have made a private visit to Shimla. They were welcomed by the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, upon their arrival at Kalyani helipad in Chhabra. The Chief Minister presented Sonia Gandhi with a memoir of traditional musical instruments.

The purpose of the Gandhi family’s visit to Shimla is unclear, but it is believed to be a private trip. The mother-daughter duo is known to have a fondness for the hill station and has visited the place before.

Sonia Gandhi served as the president of the Congress party from 1998 to 2017 and has been a Member of Parliament from the Rae Bareli constituency in Uttar Pradesh since 2004. Her daughter, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, is currently serving as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh.

The Congress party has been going through a rough patch in recent times, with a string of electoral losses and infighting among party leaders. The Gandhi family, which has been at the helm of the party for decades, has also faced criticism for its leadership style and inability to revive the party’s fortunes.

However, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra remain popular figures within the Congress party and continue to play an active role in the party’s affairs. Their visit to Shimla is likely to generate interest and speculation among Congress leaders and supporters.
