Budget Focus on Rehabilitation

The Manipur government has prioritised assistance for displaced families in the current Budget. Moreover, the ₹734 crore allocation will support relief camps, housing construction, and essential services for displaced residents.

Additionally, the funding aims to ensure better living conditions for people currently staying in temporary shelters. As a result, authorities plan to strengthen rehabilitation programs and accelerate recovery efforts in affected areas.

Support for Displaced Communities

Thousands of residents have been displaced due to the ethnic violence that affected parts of the state in recent months. Consequently, many families continue to live in relief camps or temporary settlements.

Therefore, the rehabilitation fund is expected to help restore normalcy by providing housing, livelihood assistance, and access to basic facilities such as healthcare and education.

Government’s Long-Term Plan

Officials have emphasised that the rehabilitation initiative is part of a broader plan to rebuild communities and ensure lasting stability. Furthermore, the government aims to implement development programs that can help displaced families rebuild their lives.

Meanwhile, authorities are coordinating with various departments to ensure the effective use of the allocated funds.
