Recognition by DPIIT

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, conferred the award after assessing states on policy support, institutional frameworks, startup funding, incubation facilities, and ecosystem development.

Officials said the recognition reflects Arunachal Pradesh’s consistent progress in creating a supportive environment for startups, especially in remote and frontier regions.

Deputy CM Calls It a Proud Moment

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein described the achievement as a proud moment for the state. He said the award validates the government’s long-term vision to promote innovation-led growth.

“This recognition by DPIIT shows that Arunachal Pradesh is moving in the right direction in building a robust startup ecosystem,” Mein said. He added that the state has focused on encouraging local entrepreneurs and providing them with institutional support.

Role of State Departments Highlighted

Mein congratulated the state planning department for its role in securing the honour. He also acknowledged the contributions of key officials who played a crucial role in strengthening the startup framework.

He specifically mentioned Commissioner (Planning & Investment) R K Sharma and Tabe Haider, CEO of the Arunachal Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, for their leadership and efforts.

According to officials, coordinated work between departments helped improve policy implementation, startup facilitation, and infrastructure development.

Focus on Youth and Local Entrepreneurship

The Deputy Chief Minister said the award would further strengthen the state’s commitment to nurturing startups and empowering young entrepreneurs. He stressed that the government aims to create sustainable economic opportunities for youth across both urban and rural areas.

Arunachal Pradesh has introduced initiatives to support incubation, mentorship, and access to funding for early-stage startups. These efforts aim to reduce migration by creating local employment and enterprise opportunities.

National Support for Innovation

Mein also acknowledged the support and encouragement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship nationwide. He said national-level initiatives have helped states like Arunachal Pradesh integrate into India’s broader startup movement.

He added that the recognition would motivate the state to accelerate reforms and expand support for emerging entrepreneurs.

Strengthening the Startup Ecosystem

Officials said the award would boost investor confidence and attract more startups to the state. It is also expected to enhance collaboration between government agencies, private investors, and academic institutions.

With growing focus on technology, agribusiness, tourism, and local resource-based enterprises, Arunachal Pradesh aims to position itself as a competitive startup destination in the North East.

Looking Ahead

The state government plans to build on this momentum by improving infrastructure, expanding incubation facilities, and simplifying regulatory processes. Officials believe these steps will help sustain growth in the startup sector.

Overall, the Best Performer Award marks a significant milestone for Arunachal Pradesh and underscores its rising role in India’s innovation and entrepreneurship landscape.
