Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, and Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha, had a meeting to reaffirm their commitment to a strong federal structure in India.

Mamata Banerjee, the leader of the Trinamool Congress, is one of the Chief Ministers of States not governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, along with Arvind Kejriwal of the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi and Chandrashekar Rao of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in Telangana. Recently, they have spoken out in favor of maintaining a balanced distance between the two major national parties.

Naveen Patnaik stated that the federal constitution of India should stay permanent and powerful. Mamata Banerjee wholeheartedly agrees with and values of Naveen ji.

The discussion took place on the final day of Ms. Banerjee’s three-day tour to Odisha. She had previously spent the first two days in Puri, where she had visited the 12th-century Jagannath Temple and examined the location of a newly Proposed guesthouse for visitors from West Bengal.

Mr. Naveen Patnaik informed the West Bengal Chief Minister that the government of Odisha has approved a two-acre area for the project.
