Exercise PRAGATI 2026 is currently taking place at Umroi in Meghalaya, where more than 400 military personnel from 12 friendly nations are participating in joint training activities. The multinational exercise began on May 20 and aims to strengthen regional peace, military cooperation, and operational readiness. PRAGATI 2026 Strengthens Regional Military Cooperation

The Indian Army launched Exercise PRAGATI 2026 at Umroi in Meghalaya to improve military coordination among friendly nations. The exercise brings together troops from 12 countries and creates opportunities for joint operational training.

Apart from tactical drills, the participating armies are also taking part in sports activities. Basketball, volleyball, and tug of war competitions are helping troops build friendship, teamwork, and mutual trust.

Furthermore, these informal interactions are strengthening professional relationships among soldiers from different nations. Army officials believe these engagements will improve long-term military cooperation in the region.

As the exercise continues, participating nations are expected to enhance collective preparedness and strengthen regional security partnerships.

Indian Army Organizes Yoga Session in Arunachal Pradesh

Meanwhile, the Indian Army’s Spear Corps conducted a special yoga session at Aalo in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh on May 23.

The programme formed part of the month-long preparations for International Yoga Day 2026. Troops, students, and young athletes participating in the Hangpan Dada Memorial Football and Volleyball Tournament joined the event.

During the session, instructors taught simple yoga techniques, breathing discipline, and proper body alignment. In addition, the programme highlighted the importance of physical fitness, mental wellness, and positivity.

The yoga session also created opportunities for interaction between Army personnel and local youth. As a result, the initiative strengthened community engagement in the region.

Importance of Meghalaya and Northeast India

Meghalaya and Northeast India hold major strategic importance because the region shares borders with several neighboring countries. Therefore, multinational military exercises in the Northeast help India improve defense cooperation, strengthen regional security, and increase international military engagement.
