An Aurangabad-based rapper named Raj Mungase has been arrested by police in Thane district, Maharashtra, for allegedly producing a defamatory song against the BJP-Eknath Shinde Sena government.

The rap video, which is 1.08 minutes long, satirizes allegations of how MLAs were purchased for 50 crores and taken to various places before the MVA government was toppled and a new one was formed.

The video was first uploaded on social media on March 25 by Mungase, who hails from Aurangabad, which is now known as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. The FIR was filed based on a complaint from Snehal Kamble, a member of the Yuva Sena Core Committee, who alleged that the video was defaming the current Shiv Sena-BJP government.

Kamble also suspects that Mungase has the support of Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders, as the video has been shared by MVA leaders and workers on social media platforms. The Shivaji Nagar police in Ambernath East have charged Mungase under Sections 501, 504, and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The charges relate to printing or engraving defamatory material, an intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace, and statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred, or ill will between classes.

An officer from the Shivaji Nagar police station said that they are working on the case and trying to locate the accused rapper. The officer added that Mungase would be summoned soon for questioning.
