The Manipur BJP has convened a high-level party meeting at the state party office to address recent developments following the resignation of two BJP MLAs as advisors to the chief minister and chairman of the State Tourism Corporation. Th Radheshyam and Karam Shyam were Cabinet ministers in the previous BJP-led government under Chief Minister N Biren Singh until they were removed in a mid-term reshuffle.

In video clips released on social media, both MLAs cited grievances, including not being given any responsibilities. Party sources have indicated that Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra is expected to attend the meeting along with CM Singh and party MLAs. Meanwhile, BJP MLAs are reportedly in New Delhi, meeting with central leaders to express their disappointment with the state leadership over the lack of decentralization of power among ministers and MLAs.

Union Minister of DONER B L Verma posted on social media that he had met with Th Radheshyam and Karam Shyam, along with two other MLAs, Paonam Brojen of Wangjing Tentha, and Khwairakpam Raghumani Singh of Uripok Assembly constituency. Brojen is the chairperson of the Manipur Development Society, while Singh is the chairman of MANIREDA.

The situation in Manipur has raised concerns within the BJP, which is already grappling with internal conflicts in several other states. The party is reportedly keen to resolve the matter and prevent further damage to its image ahead of the state assembly elections next year.

The meeting in Manipur is expected to address the grievances of the disgruntled MLAs and find a way to resolve the internal conflicts within the party. The outcome of the meeting could have significant implications for the BJP’s political prospects in the state, as well as its ability to govern effectively if it wins the upcoming elections.
